Hundreds of experimental animals, birds and chickens were killed today when fire destroyed a genetics department barn at the University of
Wisconsin College of Agriculture. R. K. Froker, dean of the college', estimated the damage to the building and equipment at $26,000 but said
it would be impossible to put a value on the animals killed. "You can't set a price on the 15 years of breeding work that has been completed
with some of the animals arid birds that were destroyed".
