Best friends, business partners and brothers, Irwin and Bob Goodman, modest to a fault,
have left a lasting impression on their adopted city. They've anchored State Street with
a thriving jewelry store. The lifelong bachelors have given millions of dollars to civic
groups and schools. The UW softball field is named after them. Soon, the first Madison
public swimming pool a result of their largesse. When they die, their entire estate will
go to charity, and several longtime employees will own their store.
